Senior Technologist / Solutions Advisor

GDIT is seeking a Senior Technologist / Solutions Advisor to join the Business Innovation Services (BIS) team to help us drive our digital transformation and accelerate the way we do business as a company. BIS is a part of the Business Integration and Transformation Services (BITS) team within GDIT’s Global CIO Services organization. BITS is focused on breaking down organizational silos to organize around Value Streams – how we create value for our employees, customers, and General Dynamics. We accomplish this by working with the business functions, IT, and the industry divisions to optimize our business processes, data, and technology.  This empowers us to become more efficient, effective, and competitive. In this role, you will work directly with functional leaders across the enterprise to identify innovation opportunities. Leveraging a challenger mindset and a results orientation, you will help our customers envision the art of the possible to achieve their business goals and drive cross-functional innovation initiatives to execute on these ideas.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Maintain focus on industry technology trends
• Advocate for strategic technology investments (business case development, analysis of alternatives)
• Manage and drive strategic innovation initiatives that cross Value Streams
• Represent BITS on innovation teams and technology teams (e.g. Robotics Process Automation (RPA) Center of Excellence)
• Engage with the IT Planning and Enterprise Architecture organization to align our IT roadmap with our business technology strategy
• Drive a shift towards a Value Stream approach to doing business
• Bring innovation and creativity to the problems we solve
• Build relationships across the enterprise that improve your ability to drive change and, potentially, support your personal professional growth
• Help us develop our internal team capabilities to continue to improve the way we do our own work

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, management of information technology, computer science, business administration, or another related discipline
• 7+ years of relevant experience in technology strategy, solutions architecture, and/or information technology management

Desired Qualifications:

• Deep understanding of technology market trends and applicability to business problems (e.g. cloud services, automation, artificial intelligence / machine learning, cyber security, data intelligence, as a service delivery models)
• A strong business acumen, with the ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions; a commitment to delivering high-quality, prompt, and efficient service to the business
• A “challenger mindset” and the ability to think beyond the status quo, imagine the art of the possible, and lead by influence
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• An ability to communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences, orally and in writing, in an easily-understood, authoritative, and actionable manner
• The ability to depict complex problems and models visually
• Detail-orientation and project management skills, with the ability to execute on big ideas
• Proactivity and an orientation for action and outcomes
• Analytical thinking skills / the ability to frame and measure tradeoffs
• An ability to cultivate and build collaborative working relationships with a broad range of enterprise and GDIT customer/program stakeholders
