Job Description

As a Software Engineer in Test (SET), you will design, develop and execute automated test scripts that will be used for testing ETL pipelines and ensuring data quality within our systems.  The ideal candidate will have software development experience, previous experience working in a testing and/or quality assurance role and enjoys working with data.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts in building an automation testing framework for ETL and Data Quality Validation
  • Build and maintain automated testing scripts written in Python and other technologies (SQL, Spark SQL, etc.
  • Works with Scrum/Agile team to establish and support the execution of automated tests on the Continuous Integration Environment
  • Creates, modifies and executes automated tests, test scripts and test suites including functional and regression tests to extract, transform and load data that is transmitted between systems.
  • Executes both manual and automated tests. Analyzes execution results to determine the reason for test failures
  • Ensures clear and prompt reporting on a build/release status for all stakeholders based on test run execution results
  • Develops expertise in the applications and maintains a solid knowledge with respect to automated testing tools and techniques that support ETL/Data Integration testing

Required Experience/Skills:

  • BA/BS Degree
  • 8+ years of IT experience
  • Hands on experience performing data validation using automated methods
  • Experience working with Python and SQL
  • Excitement about verification, validation and automation of complex software applications and distributed systems
  • Experience with and ability to collaborate with others in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written

Desired Experience/Skills:

  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience writing Spark SQL code
  • Ability to read specs and translate them into Spark SQL code for purposes of data validation
  • Experience with Agile methodology, working on scrum teams in an Agile environment
  • Experience with Slack, Jira, Confluence, Git, and Github
  • Stays current with related testing methodologies, technologies and practices
  • Ability to handle a dynamic work environment
  •  US Citizen or Permanent Resident
