The well-qualified candidate will have, but not limited to the following task areas:
Good working knowledge of high performance computing systems, advanced data storage technologies, and scientific software;
Knowledge of SLURM and /or other HPC job schedulers;
Ability to compile, configure, and integrate open source applications into HPC environments;
Must have experience with multi-threading and parallel processing tools such as parallel profilers, optimizers, and debuggers;
Must have a demonstrated understanding of MPI concepts such as rank and communicators;
Familiarity with data analysis tools, e.g., MATLAB, Python/R with numpy, scipy, netcdf and other related modules;
Experience designing, developing, debugging and optimizing scientific applications;
In-depth understanding of data management best practices and data architecture;
Demonstrated ability to proactively learn adapt to and use new hardware/software technologies;
Ability to communicate effectively and to quickly create clear and concise instructions and documentation;
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and deliver training workshops, webinars, and one-on-one training sessions;
Support science project for the programming and use of high-performance scientific computing environments;
Provide technical resolutions;
Develop and deliver HPC System and User documentation;
Perform scientific software installation and configuration;
Design, develop, debug and optimize scientific applications;
Using expert knowledge, develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
Project Management and Support
Deliver products or services;
Meet and follow the criteria in the associated system technical plans;
Meet and follow the criteria in the associated training project plan;
Meet and follow the project requirements develop with stakeholder and management input;
Ensure support requests are acknowledged and responded to, according to Service Level Agreements and system defects are identified and remedied;
Ensure information provided is sufficient as to be understood by users and staff at multiple technical levels;
Identify and report system abnormalities and components that may require tuning;
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 10+ years of experience
This position requires being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 18, 2022 or the start date, if after January 18. Individuals who work in or reside in Texas or Montana or work outside of the United States may be excluded from this requirement.
The likely salary range for this position is $127,200 - $190,800, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
