Our work depends on a Senior Software Engineer joining our team to support our client activities in McLean, VA. We are looking for a Software Engineer/Software Developer to help design, develop, and maintain the next generation of a Windows application on one of our Customer’s network. The successful candidate must have C++ programming skills and be able to work as the newest member of a three-person software team devoted to the development of the special application. The successful candidate must also possess a "can-do" attitude with ability to learn and adapt to a very dynamic customer environment. Job duties will include software design and development, interacting with Customer staff, troubleshooting and developing/implementing updates to the software application, fielding service requests from end users of the application, documenting the system, and keeping the team and program management of work progress and issues. A significant responsibility of the job will be interacting with the Customer’s component that manages the network and system that host our special software application.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs and may provide guidance on all phases of the software development lifecycle.
Analyze user/business needs and functionality to plan and design software systems to meet those needs.
May provide guidance for less-experienced software developers in creating a variety of models and diagrams that show programmers the software code needed for an application.
Performs and provides guidance on software updates, refinement, testing, and debugging to meet business needs.
Provides relevant analysis for reports on software project specifications, activities, or status.
Thoroughly documents the software or system process for future maintenance and updates.
May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced analysts.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
BA/BS or equivalent, 5+ years of experience
Strong C++ development skills and experience
Windows Application development skills
MS Visual C++ skills and experience
Experience developing encryption applications or ability to learn cryptography
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to also perform tasks independently as needed.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Experience developing applications for our primary customer’s network
IT Customer Service and/or O&M experience
