Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide system administration support for Linux operating systems including install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from monitoring tools. Provide system administration and management support for HPE 3PAR Storeserv equipment supporting configuration management, software upgrades, and file system management.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system’s servers, hardware, and applications software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems on servers, including system failure analysis and recovery; insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems.
  • In-depth hardware configuration knowledge, shell programming expertise, and a solid understanding of standard concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and works under general supervision.
  • Responsible for daily monitoring of interface programs between multiple enterprise systems; review daily logs and ensure successful completion; notify HRSD Operations Branch Head of any failures.
  • Perform incremental and full cold backups/patching as specified by Operations Branch Head.
  • Setup backup’ for Linux and Oracle databases while following OCHR’s policy procedures.
  • Responsible for and have experience to perform DoD Linux Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Provide performance metrics and usage charts, including CPU usage, disk usage and network uptime for the Linux Servers.
  • Provide general maintenance, upgrades, and new installation of servers, SAN and Tape Library; coordinating with data center personnel to execute. Document and generate business processes for day-to-day and emergency support procedures.
  • Utilizing HP’s Data Protector coordinate, monitor and ensure successful execution of all Linux-based databases and systems.
  • Install, test and verify Oracle Linux Security patches; coordinating, documenting requirements and timelines, and working closely with HRSD’s Oracle database administrators.
  • Perform systems security administration functions, including creation and maintenance of customer profiles and accounts.
  • Responsible for creating and/or maintaining standard operating procedures for the Linux documentation library.
  • Answer and resolve trouble calls related to applications, servers, and communications within OCHR’s Civilian HR Portfolio to serviced customers to include: DCPDS, Benefits Suite, EEO Suite, HRLink Reporting and related OCHR software via Help Desk system such as OCHR’s OCHR Assist system

The minimum qualifications for the LSA labor category are:

  • 6 years of system administration experience on Linux operating systems
  • 3 years of hands-on experience with HPE 3PAR and Blade Enclosures technology
  • Administrator in sustaining systems and applying DISA STIGs, IAVAs, and SSH, SFTP, Putty, and Toad requirements
  • Current Network+, Security+, or higher as defined by DoD CIO Information Assurance (IA) Certification requirements
  • U.S. citizenship
  • SECRET Clearance
