At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Program Manager for Data Center and Cloud Modernization Services, you will lead a program that operates, maintains, and modernizes data center / cloud infrastructure and platforms for a federal government healthcare customer. 

We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative leader to join our team in order to modernize and integrate several data centers including legacy systems with cloud-based solutions into a holistic shared services solution. We need energetic an individual who wants to enhance their professional career in a fast-paced federal environment. This role requires a leader who can drive strategy and implement a complex set of processes and technical solutions for the customer. The role will require excellent customer-facing skills, outstanding written and verbal communication, and the ability to build consensus and drive solutions across multiple systems in a multi-vendor environment. The successful candidate will have a strong program management foundation, including software development life cycle management for systems integration and/or implementation and will have participated in large-scale system integration or release management efforts, using agile methodology for development and deployment processes. They also must have experience managing and coordinating the efforts of multiple Agile Teams and be able to lead them to a higher level on the DevSecOps maturity curve.

The scope of responsibilities includes data center and cloud modernization strategy, managed services, process streamlining for data center operations, application team deployments, and cloud service provisioning.  

The functional responsibilities will be to serve as the program manager organizing, directing, and managing all aspects of contract operational support functions involving multiple complex and inter-related project tasks that often require managing teams of contractor personnel at multiple locations.

In this role, a typical day will include: 

  • Provide overall direction of program activities.  
  • Manage and maintain contractor interface with the senior levels of the customer’s organization and building relationships with Senior Government officials based on mutual trust 
  • Partnering with customers to ensure that business needs are being met and that solutions are aligned with long term goals; Utilizing feedback groups, communities of interest, and surveys to accomplish these objectives 
  • Assembling and leading an engagement and delivery team focused on delivering business value for clients through innovation, execution excellence, consistent service delivery, and continual service improvement 
  • Consult with customer and contractor personnel to formulate and review task plans and deliverables, ensuring conformance with program and project task schedules and costs and contractual obligations 
  • Working with the government, other vendors, and teaming partners to integrate systems for optimal performance 
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing staff to ensure ongoing performance and professional growth  
  • Ensuring that we meet key milestones, deliverables, and service levels throughout the life of the program 
  • Collaborating on the development of business and technical cloud strategies and solutions that drive growth, strengthen economics, and improve business value 
  • Establish and maintain technical and financial reports to show progress of projects to management and customers, organize and assign responsibilities to subordinates, oversee the successful completion of all assigned tasks, and assume the initiative and provide support to marketing personnel in identifying and acquiring potential business


  • A BA/BS degree (computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software)
  • This position requires a minimum of 15 years progressive experience in managing/leading IT Programs, including experience with data centers and infrastructure programs, and using Agile software development and DevSecOps methodologies  
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams migrating applications from on premise to the cloud 
  • PMP or PgMP Certified or equivalent required
  • Deep understanding of cloud capabilities, solutions, and economics 
  • Must have the ability to present data center and cloud strategies and solutions effectively, and to be a persuasive communicator on program and technical issues 
  • Knowledge and experience in infrastructure design and engineering; up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging network and infrastructure technologies 
  • Experience must include program management of services including execution, growth, and financial responsibility
  • Experience gathering customer requirements for large complex services to develop solutions focused on long term goals 
  • Demonstrated experience with the management and supervision of a significant number of Tier 1 - 3 engineers of various labor categories and skills in projects similar in size and scope 
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including experience in presenting material to senior Government officials 
  • Have or the ability to obtain a clearance 
  • ITIL Certified (current) or equivalent preferred
