In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Create great user experiences inspired by an understanding of people and guided by iterative learning and user assessments. 
  • Solve complex problems, address the ambiguities and opportunities of new product development, and execute complex UX work-streams.  
  • Develop wireframes, storyboards, user flows, logic flows, personas, low fidelity mock-ups, sitemaps, high fidelity prototypes, and UI specifications, to provide end-to-end dynamic, database driven design flows
  • While working in an Agile Software Development environment, team with product owners, business analysts, and product development to clarify and help define business requirements as they apply to the UI
  • Craft UX engagements, particularly in a graphical user interface (GUI) environment, that exceed customer expectations by partnering with key product stakeholders to understand and support product business goals, advocating user-centered design (UCD) industry best practices
  • Assess the user experience through laboratory and field evaluations. Draft test scenarios, lead user evaluation sessions, and analyze/interpret results. Analyze available usage metrics for trends, patterns, issues, and opportunities for UX optimization

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors Psychology or Engineering, Service Design, Anthropology or related fields, or equivalent work experience

Required Experience

  • 6+ years related Human Centered Design work experience with computer information systems, preferably with some experience in government or innovation-focused teams
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with User Experience (UX) design  
  • 2+ years designing decision support in computer information systems by leveraging cognitive task analyses or similar decision making and information requirement tools and resources
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative user evaluation techniques including eyetracking
  • 2+ years of direct or matrixed supervision experience (leading other teams)
  • Advanced knowledge of wireframing and/or prototyping
  • Expert knowledge of user centered design (UCD) patterns and best practices
  • Visual design experience using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Prototyping experience with Axure, Figma and/or Sketch

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Health Care Industry or Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) experience
  • Understanding of common software development practices (Agile, SAFe, Lean, etc)
  • Experimental design and statistical analysis including familiarity with SPSS or similar analysis software
  • Exceptional written communication and presentation skills including the ability to engage different stakeholders in developing and implementing designs
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities

CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance
  • Must have lived in the United States at least three (3) of the last five (5) years.
