GDIT is seeking a motivated individual to contribute to the Surface Ship Torpedo Defense Inventory Control team based in Chesapeake, VA. The successful candidate:
Performs clerical and manual duties in material areas such as receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering materials, parts, supplies, and equipment.
Maintains established inventory levels by regularly checking shelves and reports to the Supervisor. Maintains the inventory system to aid in production scheduling.
Stocks vendor deliveries in warehouse or supply room and checks that deliveries conform to purchase orders as to quality and quantity.
Maintains a clean, organized warehouse or supply room.
Follows established policies and procedures to maintain accurate records of all warehouse activities including receiving and shipping, inventory audits, deliveries, and transfers through use of the inventory management system.
Develops and maintains effective warehouse storage practices that promote efficient storage, identification and retrieval.
Maintains a supply management database, and generates various reports as assigned.
Prepares and maintains related documentation.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less experienced Supply Technicians.
Utilizes small hand tools, scales, and operates material handling equipment such as fork lifts, pallet handlers, and hand trucks.
Uses online resources as needed for parts/equipment technical research, data updates, and related communications.
Recommends process improvements.
May serve as a team leader
Participates in special projects as required.
Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Must currently have or be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance
Requires 8 or more years of warehouse experience
Effective organizational skills. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to operate a forklift and other related tools and equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and stairs, squat, and reach for warehoused material.
Candidate must be able to wear safety hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and other Personal Protective Equipment as required.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
