Job Description

Our work depends on a DataStax Analyst joining our team to provide ongoing DataStax support which includes database support, application performance analysis, database performance analysis, application preventative/corrective maintenance, and mandatory patch/upgrade support.

HOW A DATASTAX ANALYST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Support the work related to the proof-of-concept pilot test of the Astra DB product
  • Support the work related to the Zero Downtime migration from the old HP Moonshot hardware to the new generation of hardware and/or cloud for production DataStax clusters
  • Support the work related to the upgrade from DataStax DSE 5 to DSE 7, including support for configuring the Azure environment to use for upgrade/testing/resolving DataStax related issues
  • Support the work related to the Zero Downtime Data Migration to Astra or LUNA, if either of these DataStax cloud-based options are chosen for production use 
  • Provide scripts for SIT and CAT tests that contain test conditions and expected results for patch releases
  • Maintain and distribute accumulative ticket log report on an as-needed basis
  • Follow SDLC process for TSLC compliance and shall provide details for execution of any non-compliant SRs as required by the PM
  • Respond to the DMS team and provide reports as needed to support the following:
    • Notifications to service providers regarding product bugs and advisories
    • Patching/upgrade advisories and provides binaries for patching

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline (preferred but not required)

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience with database and application development

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable about Apache Cassandra and Astra DB
  • Knowledgeable about Big Data platform/systems technologies
  • Possess a development background and experience in the core big data technologies used by IV (i.e., Cassandra, Astra DB, shall follow-up issues and work with USPS Service providers to expedite resolution)
  • Ability to respond to technical inquires/activities associated with Cassandra clusters and Astra DB for failures and/or issues and will work to rectify failures and issues where appropriate
  • Working knowledge of the Zero Downtime migration from the old HP Moonshot hardware to the new generation of hardware and/or cloud for production DataStax clusters
  • Ability to support the work related to the upgrade from DataStax DSE 5 to DSE 7, including support for configuring the Azure environment to use for upgrade/testing/resolving DataStax related issues
  • Ability to support the work related to the Zero Downtime Data Migration to Astra or LUNA, if either of these DataStax cloud-based options are chosen for production use 
  • Ability to provide reports as needed to support notifications to service providers regarding product bugs and advisories and patching/upgrade advisories and provides binaries for patching
  • Prior work experience providing scripts for SIT and CAT tests that contain test conditions and expected results for patch releases (this report that documents test results for SIT and CAT tests)
  • Prior work experience maintaining and distributing accumulative ticket log report (on an as-needed basis)
  • Skill and ability to follow SDLC process for TSLC compliance and shall provide details for execution of any non-compliant SRs as required by the PM
  • Skill and ability to maintain a defect report/list and distribute a defect report/list on an as-needed basis (this report shall include metrics providing timeline and details for the defect resolution, along with remediation strategy recommendations)

Preferred Skills:

  • Desired experience with Linux/Unix, Java, Python, cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google, Continuous Integration and Build Automation

Security Clearance Level:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.

Location:

  • 100% remote in the U.S.
  • Preferred: Onsite at client site in Washington D.C. with a hybrid work schedule (e.g., 2 days onsite, 3 days remote each work week)

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
