GDIT is looking for a Network Engineer, Senior to provide cloud and systems support to the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) contract. GDIT supports their mission of awarding merit-based, peer reviewed grants to Texas-based entities and institutions for cancer-related research, product development and the delivery of cancer prevention programs via three programs:  Academic Research, Prevention, and Product Development Research. Also supports an in-house application and supporting environments, along with the encompassing support systems.

Required Skills/ Education:

BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 7+ years of experience

Must have hands-on experience with Redhat Linux 7/8, Windows Server, DNS, IIS with Java/Tomcat, Cold Fusion and .NET, WSUS, yum (including yum package troubleshooting).  Must have hands-on experience with AWS (GovCloud) and AWS-centric technologies such as VPC peering, EC2, Cloudwatch/flow logs, and Tenable.  Splunk or other log analysis tool experience helpful.

Daily Responsibilities:

Monitors stability and performance of Amazon Web Services enclave, servers, and services, via Cloudwatch, Nagios, and other monitoring/scanning tools, and document and remediate any findings

Maintain and patch ~35 STIG-built Redhat and Windows 2012R2 servers, and maintain a positive security posture

Helps design and implement customer requirements

Work with developers to implement changes needed for their environments while adhering to best practices.

Evaluates new technologies as they appear, suggest process/tech improvements

Participates fully as a member of a small, flexible team
