At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Systems Engineer supporting the customer, you will be trusted to lead enterprise IT system development efforts and develop leading edge mission solutions. In this role, a typical day will include:
Collaborating with a team of highly skilled, mission focused professionals
Managing enterprise IT system development and engineering efforts
Researching emerging technologies to determine impact on application/system integration and execution.
Developing cloud services solutions (AWS) and traditional infrastructure solutions
Working with project management teams to execute infrastructure improvements
Triage unmet technical requirements to develop technology solutions that deliver value to corporate and mission customers, sometimes offering new technology investment concepts.
Accomplish written functional and technical specifications of software based solutions and services.
Provide weekly status reports regarding system performance and technical debts and defects. Offer immediate and strategic solutions that are actionable, innovative, and add mission value.
Experience developing and managing an integrated project team structure and assignments.
Lead, direct and manage enterprise IT system development and engineering efforts.
Draft project briefings that articulate project investment requirements, (technical) goals, design approach, success criteria, Work Breakdown Structure, and schedule (s).
Complete research of emerging technologies to determine impact on application/system integration and execution.
Functional understanding of all phases of the software development lifecycle, the System Engineering Life Cycle, and the ability to comprehend user business (and mission) needs and concerns.
Develop cloud services solutions (AWS/Azure) and traditional infrastructure solutions, Layer 3/Layer4 Routing and Switching solutions, as well as validate the implementation accuracy.
Develop comprehensive deployment plans for new solutions.
Provide engineering support and solutions during scheduled system maintenance and upgrades.
Participate in Engineering Review Board meetings as SMW representation.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
Minimum of 10 years related experience.
Technical Skills: ITIL [ITSM], Linux Engineering, Windows Engineering, Network Engineering [Cisco], AWS Engineering, VMware Engineering /Administration.
Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
