At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Systems Operations Specialist supporting the customer, you will be trusted to provide critical IT solutions and excellent customer service. In this role, a typical day will include:
Working with a dedicated, highly skilled team of professionals
Resolving critical IT-related issues that negatively impact the mission
Lending expertise and institutional knowledge to less experienced team members to improve the overall excellence of the team
Providing desk side support for hardware focused IT issues
Serving as Sponsors liaison to Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and its components
Serving as a focal point for all DHS-related IT requirements
Assist mission partners in the submission of IT requirements as they pertain to DHS
Provide onsite DHS IT support (server, desktop and account administration)
Maintain inventory of DHS hardware at multiple facilities; provide inventory reports to Sponsors Asset Management Team
Assist mission partners in identifying end of life supported hardware and purchasing replacement hardware ensuring mission partners have the IT resources to perform their mission
Coordinate with DHS components to create custom DHS workstation images using Sponsors approved IT hardware
Troubleshoot DHS network connectivity issues
Provide after-hours testing in support of requested firewall changes when needed
Coordinate with network operation centers at DHS to enable access to DHS network resources such as email and applications via firewall changes
Provide after-hours IT support as needed
Maintain and support the DHS server at Sponsors site
Provide DHS with offsite data backups to comply with their requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
Minimum of 8 years related experience
Technical Skills: Experience troubleshooting both software and hardware IT-related issues, excellent customer service, strong written and verbal communication skills, IT ticketing system experience
Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph

Uses advanced knowledge to develop technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of systems.
Recognized subject matter expert in job area typically through advanced education and work experience. Manages large projects with limited oversight from manager.
Performs detailed analysis and systems designs with great autonomy.
May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 8+ years of experience
