General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has an immediate need for a Principal Java Developer to analyze design, develop, implement, and support code; working under limited supervision; performing additional duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a top level technical or functional expert supporting one or more clients and unlimited user groups.
  • Performs highly specialized technical tasks associated with cutting-edge technologies.
  • Works with user groups to solve business problems with available technology including hardware, software, databases, and peripherals.
  • Applies expert functional knowledge and experience to significant business projects or processes.
  • May perform business development activities, including providing technical input to proposal efforts.
  • Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff.
  • May serve as a technical task or project leader.
  • May have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant developments in area of expertise.
  • Participates in special projects as required.

This program only accepts US citizens and/or Green Card Holders.  The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, preferred but not required

Required skills:

  • 10+ years of experience with JAVA, JSP, J2EE, SQL, Oracle, WebSphere (7 or higher), Eclipse, Subversion or GitHub
  • Knowledge of Java object design and patterns and ability to translate them into efficient code
  • The ability to adapt to sudden modifications
  • The ability to work independently or with a team
  • The ability to make educated decisions regarding their projects
  • Ability to obtain a USPS clearance

Working knowledge of one of more of the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge/experience with Agile Methodologies•
  • Assist team with preparation of cost estimates
  • Knowledge/experience of SDLC practices
  • Change Management and Configuration Management (VersionOne, ServiceNow, etc)
  • Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
  • Desired experience with Spring, CSS, Html, Unix, Jenkins/EBS
