The Software Engineer  Advisor will be responsible for the development, administration, and automation of solutions within GDIT ServiceNow environments. The Software Engineer will work with members of the CIO-Technology Shared Services Applications Team, customers, and external vendors to design, implement, test, document, integrate, and automate solutions needed to support the enterprise. Daily activities will include developing solutions within ServiceNow, assisting with the integration of other apps/tools with ServiceNow, system administration, automation, report development, and testing of the product and its sub-modules.

Required Proficiency: 

  • Ability to establish, develop, and maintain ServiceNow and integrations with other systems through automation technologies based on customer requirements.
  • Experience with Agile software development

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the automation of solutions that will integrate with ServiceNow instances based on customer requirements.
  • Configure ServiceNow modules to effectively underpin uniquely defined ITIL processes and ITSM workflows.
  • Import data from existing event monitoring and management tools to make available for use in ServiceNow.
  • Collaborate with designated points of contact to refine, test, and debug system as needed.
  • Collaborate with appropriate support teams on system integration efforts.
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and integrity of ServiceNow system.
  • Follow established Change Management process for system modification or maintenance.
  • Design and automate reports that can be auto-generated and easily accessed through ServiceNow.
  • Effectively engage in all phases of the development lifecycle. Configure and develop core and custom solutions as requested.
  • Populate tool with foundation data specific to customer organization.
  • Optimally configure ServiceNow to enable comprehensive reporting.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience establishing instance of ServiceNow both on-premise and in cloud environment.

Job Profile Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree, IT Related
  • 5+ years of experience working with ITSM solutions in an enterprise environment. 
  • 3+ years of ServiceNow development / implementation / administrative experience * Experience working with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript (including AngularJS), XML, SOAP, YAML) 
  • 3+ years of experience using automation technologies (Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet)
  • Superior attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand complex business needs and adapt appropriately.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies applicable to the ServiceNow platform
  • Certified ServiceNow Administrator
  • Experience creating and executing test cases using ServiceNow’s Automated Test Framework
  • Understanding of IT service management and common service level agreement measurements
  • Individual skills preferred: process minded, good presentation and communication skills
  • Established documentation skills
