Designs, develops, evaluates, plans and tests engineering specifications for software programs and applications
Researches, develops and/or modifies geospatial applications software. Work with vendors to make necessary modifications for partner specific production environments.
Designs, develops, codes, tests, and debugs complex new software products, or work with vendors to make significant enhancements to existing software.
Researches and integrates design strategies, product specifications, development schedules, and user expectations into product capabilities.
Resolves complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.
Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity.
Researches emerging technologies to determine impact on application execution.
Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, SOPs, and training materials.
Troubleshoots complex problems and provides customer support for software operating systems and application issues.
Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.
Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software engineers.
May serve as a technical team or task leader.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Working Knowledge of:
Windows Server, Redhat, and Linux.
RemoteView, Socet GXP, GCE and ArcMap
Mass Storage technologies (SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, Fiber Channel over Ethernet, Block and File, DAS, etc.)
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
8-10 years of related software engineering and database management experience
An enterprise level understanding of customer relationship management programs
Experience working in an OCONUS environment and an understanding of the impact of policy and processes on technical implementations
Experience with image cataloging software such as GCE.
Experience Creating VM's using VMware and Hyper-V
Experience with database maintenance and management
Experience with installing and troubleshooting ELT's
Experience in performing STIGs on databases, applications, and operating systems
Understanding of basics in networking (ping, routes, IP addresses, DNS, hosts files, TCP/UDP protocols including but not limited to http/s and ports/protocols that webservers, mapservers, or licensing servers may be running on).
Experience with SQL server, Postgresql/postgis, AND mariadb.
Experience operating with OCONUS Production systems and inherent limitations.
Experience with configuration management utilities/tools.
