GDIT is seeking a Cybersecurity Communications Specialist/Technical Writer for one of our comprehensive cybersecurity programs in the national capitol area. The Communications Specialist/Technical Writer will primarily focus on documentation and communication activities for a greenfield Commercial Solutions for Classified Systems (CSfC) solution. The successful candidate must have experience developing and editing technical documentation in large or government organizations. The position works closely with project managers and technical staff to develop communication templates, standard operating procedures and optimize work instructions, among other tasks. The successful candidate will be able explain complex technical information in a clear and concise manner. The candidate must have strong analytical skills and demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The position is part of the CSfC program team.
Perform key communication activities and be motivated to adopt the new solution quickly and to confidently explore new functionality in the future.
Write technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions.
Advise and create layout work, including graphic development.
Possess and apply expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
Operate with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
Contribute to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
Create, edit, modify, and maintain version control of forms/documents and SOP to ensure timely updating of policies, procedure, process, and the identification of issue items
Provide technical writing for template, ad hoc reports and meeting minutes.
Provide IT change management and problem solving for consistent documentation update, facilitation, coordination, and communication management of issues
Work with management to recommend and implement best practice solutions, enhancing the process improvement
Ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and client specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style
BS in journalism, English, business or communications and knowledge in document standards such as US Government Publishing Office Style and document templates in following NIST RMF and Accreditation artifacts.
2+ years of experience in technical requirements writing in an IT infrastructure environment
Experience developing technical graphics
Strong planning and organizational skills
Ability to facilitate meetings with cross-functional stakeholders
Ability to manage, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks
Work experience in tech environments performing technical writing and editing functions
Advanced skill in word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint, etc.
Impeccable written English skills
Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Strong customer advocate mentality
Ability to learn new technologies quickly
Exceptional communication skills with an emphasis on interpretation and documentation
Ability to write, document, and maintain Policies, Processes, and Procedures as related to account responsibilities
Top Secret clearance capability
Knowledge of the customization of Commercial Solutions for Classified, CSfC
Experience working at Department of State
