The Desk Officer must effectively maintain formal communications and provide highlights, as appropriate; draft/coordinate responses and approvals for technical operations; and maintain knowledge of multiple customer systems. Qualified individuals will provide strategic guidance and operational case management based on advanced knowledge and expertise of operations, operational tradecraft, and intelligence priorities. Additionally, they will identify solutions to complex operational problems and utilize tools and capabilities to advance operations. They will also develop and maintain a broad network of contacts across the US Government to satisfy operational requirements; coordinate legal and policy issues affecting operations; and monitor field cable/email traffic. The position requires prior experience in supporting HUMINT operations and familiarity with the Intelligence Community (IC) and its objectives. Knowledge of a SITEX program is a plus but not required.
A successful candidate must be detail oriented and promptly respond to requests, as this position is part of a large program in fast paced environment. The officer will work both independently with minimal supervision, as well as with a team of technical travelers. Candidates must effectively interact with customer personnel at all levels within the customer organization.
Bachelors Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience
Active clearance with polygraph
Applicable 2+ years of HUMINT desk officer/SOO experience
Strong written and oral communications skills
Strong analytic, critical thinking, and research skills
Experience drafting cables and other documentation
Knowledge of the IC and other US Government agencies within the national security community
Preferred Skills and Education:
Advanced degree or related experience (preferred to be in area of expertise)
Knowledge of operational tools and methodologies used in the IC
