Provide project direction for tasks requiring complex system design and drafting to Lead Designer / Assistant Design & Drafting Manager.
Assign tasks and schedule completion dates to CAD Designers and track tasks for weekly reports to Program Managers.
Participate in ship checks/site visits and develop ship check reports.
Prepare and update project files for all tasks and plan present and future manning requirements.
Prepare and submit estimates for projects requested by Program Managers.
Develop and Submit Liaison Action Requests (LAR) and Submit Ship Change Documents (SCD) to NAVSEA.
Assist in development of New Technology Items.
Provide input for yearly budget requirements for existing and future requirements.
Maintain design software configuration.
Research and acquire reference information from Shipyard Plan Files or Vendors.
Submit drawings for approval to appropriate planning yard/customer.
Maintain configuration and control of technical documentation.
Interact and coordinate with Government/Commercial Customers to provide highest level of service.
Submit technical documentation to appropriate planning yard/customer in soft copy or hard copy as directed by contract.
Provide instruction and training to staff to maintain latest industry skills.
Establish new customer/contract sources.
Develop one on one relationship with customer base.
Ensure quality in technical documentation.
Hire and maintain present and future staffing requirements.
Assist with special projects.
Participate in special programs and meetings with customers.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Complete knowledge with Government and Commercial Design and Drafting requirements including Drawing Format, Weight Group assignment, General Specifications for Overhaul of Surface Ships and Submarines, Fleet Modernization Program Manual, ANSI/ASME, etc.
Computer literacy, including use of word-processing, spreadsheet, project management and database software.
Skilled with various Designing and Drafting Software including but not limited to Autodesk.
Seasoned oral and written communication skills.
Ability to organize and manage.
Capacity to sustain keen attention to detail.
