Senior AWS Cloud Cost Management Engineer

Looking for an experienced Senior AWS Cloud Cost Management Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering and Migration team to support current cloud requirements, cloud migration and deployment of new requirements to the AWS Cloud environment for our federal customers. As a Senior AWS Cloud Cost Management Engineer , you will work with a team of Architect, Developers, Program Manager, and Subject Matter Experts to understand the customer’s business requirements and provide the greatest value at the least cost for AWS services.  In this role, the candidate should have strong experience with the AWS technologies and a thorough understanding of the cost implications. We are looking for a highly motivated professional who embraces the DevOps culture, and a self-starter who can deliver AWS business guidance with minimal supervision. Job Description:

  • Define customer’s business needs and determine how they can be met through the AWS platform.
  • Educate the customer on cloud adoption and cost/benefit tradeoffs.
  • Coordinate alignment among business leaders to refactor solutions for cloud migration and enhancement as a best value.
  • Assist the customer with financial planning for the execution of migrations, operations and enhancements in the cloud.
  • Act as customer relationship manager and advocate.
  • Provide support for Organizational Change Management activities.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationships with a diverse group of staff members, stakeholders, and customers.

Key Requirements:

  • U. S. Citizen
  • Public Trust clearance or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification
  • 2+ years’ AWS experience in a role focused on cost-management in an AWS environment.
  • 2+ years’ experience working within a customer’s environment, using AWS services, solutions, and provisioning/automating AWS infrastructure, services and tools.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated experience working with senior level stakeholders and development teams.
  • Competent communication skills, both orally and in writing to convey financial concepts to less technical audiences.
  • Must be able to articulate cloud technologies and approaches to all levels of customer and contractor personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
  • Must be able to work in a matrixed organization.

Responsibilities:

The Senior AWS Cloud Cost Management Engineer  is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Responsible for understanding and communicating the cost implications of decisions and technology selection for IT and the customer’s businesses.
  • Establish tracking and reporting systems for cloud budgets, costs and variances.
  • Provide recommendations for AWS solutions to derive greatest value at the least cost.
  • Work collaboratively with the customer, Business Enablement/Service Delivery and Architecture and Standards to ensure cost management of the customer’s AWS Cloud environments.
  • Work with organizational change management lead to help develop and deliver key messages regarding cost and value across the agency and to stakeholders.
  • Support the continued development of the customer’s operational model.

Desired:

  • 5+ years’ AWS experience in AWS environment in a role focused on cost-management in an AWS environment.
  • 5+ years’ experience working within a customer’s environment, using AWS services, solutions, and provisioning/automating AWS infrastructure, services and tools.
