GDIT is currently seeking a Network Engineer to provide technical support for a new program that provides agency-wide Enterprise IT support. The Network Engineer will serve as part of a talented team of engineers responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet mission objectives.
• Designs, plans and builds communication networks • Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols • Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements • Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies • Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process, and plans implementation of enhancements • Analyzes customer requirements and provides solutions to variety of technical problems • Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks • Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability • Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned • Provide trouble-shooting support, and interface with vendors and other IT support personnel for problem resolution • Support the efforts to deploy SecDevOps, Infrastructure as Code and automation efforts across the service area • Establish and document baselines to measure service performance and capability across a global enterprise
Required Skills: o Bachelor’s Degree in a related business or technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience o Proven hands-on network engineering experience and deep understanding of networking protocols o Ability to analyze, test, troubleshoot, and resolve problems, as well as identify deficiencies and solutions to improve the network environment o Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects o Effective communication and time management skills o Detailed knowledge of relevant government regulations and standards o Possess an active TS/SCI security clearance, with Full-Scope Polygraph
