GDIT provides Engineering & Technical Services for the FAA Technical Center's Airport Technology Research & Development (ATRD) Branch for all personnel, facilities, material, and other services necessary to accomplish the Branch mission.
The Airport Technology Research and Development Branch (ATR) is tasked to conduct testing and evaluations of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) detection and mitigation technologies/systems for airports. The research conducted by ATR is highly visible with evolving objectives that has a high impact to airport safety and the National Airspace System (NAS)
Must have a 4-year degree in airport operations, aviation management, or engineering from an accredited college or university. Qualified candidates require at least 3 to 5 years of work experience in airport operations and/or airport management related fields, with an in depth knowledge of airport safety issues, airfield operations, capacity studies, and/or delay analysis. Candidates must also have knowledge of Unmanned Air Systems Technology and FAA Advisory Circulars on airport safety items, such as airfield lighting, markings and signage. Must have extensive experience in writing test plans and technical reports, preparing and providing presentations to small groups of senior management, peers or to the general public, and be capable of fully executing a portfolio of safety related research and development project with minimal supervision.
