Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.
  • Develops and directs tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.
  • Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
  • Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
  • Sign up, receive, review and take action on Security Alerts, Advisories, and Directives.
  • Maintain system lifecycle of responsible software or systems as part of System Support.
  • Review and take action on system maintenance and flow remediation.
  • Create and maintain pipelines in Azure DevOps
  • Create and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform
  • Work in a team environment on virtualization technologies.
  • Troubleshoot Windows, VMware, AWS and Azure product related issues and tasks.
  • Develop, document, and perform approved system maintenance plans.
  • Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements.
  • Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems.
  • Maintain monthly technical reports.
  • Research, test, document, and implement new products.
  • Perform scheduled weekend and after-hours work, as well as after-hours emergency work, as required.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Participates in special projects as required.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • 5-8 years Windows server administration, VMware vSphere Suite administration, virtualization equivalent, Azure Cloud or system administration equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Primarily: PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Knowledge in Endpoint protection solutions
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Exchange Online services
  • In-depth knowledge of virtualization technologies and concepts.
  • Proficient with Windows Server 2008+.
  • Proficient with Domain Controller roles and functionality including Active Directory.
  • Willing to work weekends and after hours when needed.


Desired Supplementary Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Azure and AWS.
  • Working knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructures specifically VMware Horizon.
  • High proficiency with MS Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of other server-based software packages including Symantec Antivirus, Backup Exec, etc.
  • Knowledgeable with enterprise level anti-spam and anti-virus applications.
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Experience with the following is a plus: Networking technologies, web servers, application servers (Oracle, JBoss, GlassFish), virtualization technologies (VMware and Oracle Virtual Machine), databases (MySQL and Oracle Database), Identity Management/Security technologies, Business Intelligence (Oracle BI, Informatica, MicroStrategy), help desk software (Remedy, Spiceworks), SAS software and administration.
  •  Ability to learn Terraform and Azure DevOps

The likely salary range for this position is $76,000 - $114,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
