Responsibilities:

  • Creating maintainable, adaptable, scalable, defect-free code using software development best practices and coding standards (i.e., software reuse, refactoring, continuous integration, test automation, secure development, and test driven development).
  • Participating in requirements, detail design, and code/unit test case peer reviews.
  • Developing and maintaining design models based on new or updated requirements.
  • Developing and unit testing to add features/functionality to the existing product based on functional requirements
  • Performing peer-reviews of code written from other engineers.
  • Investigating problem tickets with the REST API product.
  • Working in a team environment to follow existing standards, asking questions, sharing knowledge, and providing requested documentation.
  • Working closely with the testing team to provide troubleshooting support during  development phases.
  • Supporting integration, functional, system, and customer acceptance testing.
  • Adding information to defect tracking systems as problem tickets are being worked.
  • Reporting progress to project manager.
  • Providing time estimates for future work when necessary.
  • Reviewing, providing feedback, and remediating as needed identified security vulnerabilities found during vulnerability scanning.

  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn and maintain current systems with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to be flexible to handle multiple and changing customer priorities on complex and high-volume systems.
  • Working knowledge of REST API, JSON.
  • Experience using API test cases in SOAP UI, PostMan, or ReadyAPI.
  • Experience with working in agile software development environments.
  • Experience with an IDE such as eclipse.
  • Experience using/querying database such as Oracle or MS SQL.
  • CMMi experience preferred and/or experience in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methods.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite of tools (e.g., Jira) or other issue/change tracking software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years in experience programming in Java.
  • 7+ years in experience developing/maintaining backend APIs.
  • Experience with Spring and Spring configurations.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Tier 4 (High Risk) security clearance.
