Job Description

GDIT is seeking an Audio/Visual (A/V) Engineer to support the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI).  In this role, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert for NHGRI ‘s A/V technology environment. You will support meeting and event management by providing virtual communication support, presentation assistance, and equipment maintenance services, as well as video-/web-conferencing virtual connections, hardware and software requirements, conference room reservations, room configuration set up and break down, presentation assistance, and videography.

This position requires occasional off-site and evening support.

HOW AN A/V ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serve as primary Point of Contact (POC) with vendors in bringing innovative solutioning to the clients and teams
  • Work closely with vendors to generate current and future designs of conference rooms
  • Deliver high quality integrated conference room A/V solutions on schedule
  • Work closely with Senior Government Leadership to provide innovation of conference rooms
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to team and leadership to ensure clients’ schedule, performance, and budget targets are met
  • Provide support to operations and support teams, including root cause analysis, when conference room A/V issues arise
  • Cross-train team members on troubleshooting A/V issues
  • Stay abreast of technical, industry standards, and business knowledge of A/V and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) industry directions and trends
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and user guides
  • Manage and maintain all A/V technology and virtual communications equipment
  • Set up, install, test, operate, and maintain equipment for A/V conferencing and teleconferencing meeting needs
  • Perform A/V system deployments, including hardware and software
  • Monitor and track conference room scheduling/reservations
  •  Inventory and maintain all A/V equipment
  • Operate sound and visual equipment during live events
  • Perform maintenance actions, including inspections, service contracts, and upgrades
  • Install video switching devices, media converters, wall monitors/televisions, and video control devices that support AV systems
  • Conduct conference health checks to ensure all conference rooms are in working order at all times
  • Provide customer support during meetings, including video teleconferencing, video display of laptops and/or room computer presentations, and WebEx setup
  • Respond and track service request tickets in ServiceNow
  • Participate in special projects as needed

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • BS or additional four years of experience
  • Minimum of two years of A/V experience
  • Must be proficient using a variety of unified communications, including MS Teams, Zoom, Owl Meeting Pro 360 Cameras, Barco ClickShare, or videoconferencing (VTC) systems
  • Must be well versed in the control and integration of multi-room A/V systems
  • Good understanding of the interface between conference room A/V equipment and video teleconferencing codes
  • Experience with Crestron Scheduling Panels for Robin Booking Solution
  • Must be familiar with industry standards-based video-conferencing and other A/V and collaboration technologies and products, such as Video Recorders, Control Systems and Control Units, Tuners, Modulators, Amplifiers, TOA Audio Monitors, Plasma TV’s, HP Laptops Mac Book Pro Laptops, and/or Cisco  Cameras
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques used in A/V troubleshooting and support
  • Must be able to obtain a NIH Public Trust

Physical Requirements:

  • Moves equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to move throughout buildings on NIH Campus

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Certified Technology Specialists (CTS or CTS-I)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Good organizational and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision
  • A/V and VTC system design experience
