GDIT, is seeking Outreach Coordinator to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations (NOAAs) National Centers for Environmental Information. This position is located at NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).  It will involve working with the Climatic Science and Services Division (CSSD), as an outreach coordinator for user engagement in the Climatic Information Services Branch.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Organize, facilitate, and summarize regular, cross-center, NCEI Engagement Team meetings to support awareness and understanding of NCEI’s customer base, identify and document requirements and assets
  • Recommend targets of opportunity for stakeholder interaction and products to support NCEI’s customer base
  • Foster and promote NCEI internal, external, and regional collaborative engagement at conferences/workshops
  • Plan, conduct, and assist in the coordination of industry, sector, and region-tailored external engagement meetings geared to maximize awareness, understanding, and use of NCEI products and services and capture feedback in the targeted community (e.g.: planning meetings, agendas, minutes, logistics coordination, preparation of supporting graphical materials, coordinating with speakers/attendees, managing and tracking invitation lists, etc.)
  • Provide summary approaches for increasing the use and usability of NCEI products and services based on customer requirements documented from engagement events and Biweekly Engagement Team meetings.
  • Produce and provide State of the Services quarterly reports outlining strategic NCEI engagement efforts, including executive summaries.
  • Assist NCEI management in formulating and implementing engagement and communications plans, improve user access to NCEI products and services, and help to formulate, inventory, and track uses and applications of NCEI data, information, and products.
  • Assist the Technical Lead with other program activities and projects as needed (e.g.: presentations, technical papers, etc.)
  • Previous experience with event planning and coordination
  • Ability to communicate soundly in writing such as briefing papers, talking points, reports, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite cloud sharing applications
  • Ability to communicate orally to a diverse group of people such as management, staff, and scientists
  • Skill in coordinating effectively across an organization at all levels
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships across an organization to achieve mission goals and objectives
  • Well organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize using good time management skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to pass a Federal background investigation
Preferred Skills:
  • Previous federal contracting experience is a plus
  • Experience creating and editing graphical content
  • Understanding of weather and climate data, products, and services
  • Experience using customer relationship management software, preferably Salesforce
  • Familiarity with NCEI data holdings
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably physical science, business, marketing, economics, or related equivalent)
