Job Description

GDIT is seeking an individual to fill a position as a System and Application monitoring analyst on our team. The individual will utilize knowledge and experience to monitor systems and applications, tune monitoring tools and thresholds, deploy new technologies as well as troubleshoot server operating systems, related utilities, and hardware. The individual will monitor system activities and fine-tune system parameters and configurations to optimize performance and ensure the security of systems. They perform capacity analysis and monitor and control the usage of disk space.

Essential Responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage monitoring systems to include MS SCOM and Libre NMS,
  • Produce metric reports and capacity planning reports as needed to support the Windows environments
  • Perform regular system tuning and performance monitoring
  • Assist with security monitoring
  • Evaluate and recommend new technology upgrades; evaluate new software and hardware to determine usefulness and compatibility with existing software/hardware
  • Working with system owners both internal and external to troubleshoot incidents
  • Coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the client/server and core infrastructure services environment
  • Participate in root cause analysis efforts and problem investigation, as required
  • Monitoring of MS Exchange 2016 environment including support for email routing, email tracking, and SMTP relays
  • Monitoring of MS Server environments 2016 and 2019 including enterprise directory services, DNS, IIS, SQL, and other Microsoft technologies.
  • Works closely with key team members such as project managers, technical leads, and system owners/
  • Identify potential trends in performance gaps and recommend modifications to the standardized work documents by using process improvement principles
  • Design and implement system resource plans for upcoming applications

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge and experience related to IT systems and technologies.
  • Knowledge of common industry hardware, operating systems, monitoring software, tools and utilities, and platforms, in addition to free and open-source tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and project planning.
  • Knowledge of SDLC and PMO methodologies.
  • Must understand technical problems and solutions in relation to current and future business environments.
  • Knowledge of storage infrastructure hardware and/or software installation, configuration, and maintenance (i.e., firewalls, routers, switches, operating systems, administration/monitoring tools)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • DoD 8570 IAT II (Sec+ or equivalent) or above
  • More than 7 years of experience in the IT industry with experience in Windows Server administration; Window 2008 & 2012 with Active Directory Services (AD, DNS, DHCP), MS Clustering, RDP and MS Terminal Server 2008/2012 and Lync.
  • Hands on Experience in System Monitoring utilizing HP tool suite and or MS SCOM
  • Hands on Experience in managing/supporting VMWARE servers (hosts and guests)
  • IT Industry: 7 years
  • Microsoft Office: 5 years
  • Microsoft Windows Server: 5 years
  • SDLC: 5 Years (Desired)
