GDIT s military health team is HIRING a Medical Admin to support the 59th Medical Wing (MDW), located at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The 59th Medical Wing Science and Technology (ST) office advises and conducts clinical and translational research on matters pertaining to the medical aspects of the Air Expeditionary Force and the health of Air Force (AF) personnel and beneficiaries. In order to support the required research, ST offices conduct translational research in the areas of emergency medical care, combat casualty care, force health protection, restorative medicine, clinical and rehabilitative medicine and specialty centers.
Perform clerical, office receptionist, clinical check-in receptionist and record keeping duties.
Record a variety of physician’s orders involving patient activities.
Organize patient records to research, extract medical information, and reviews records for
completeness, accuracy and consistency with medical facility requirements.
Schedule, change, and cancel medical appointments using an automated system and determines
patient eligibility for military medical services while performing clerical, office receptionist, and clinical check-in receptionist duties.
Coordinate, arrange, schedule and check in through personal contact, telephone calls and written request appointments for follow-up visits and/or new patients coming in on consultations.
Request and obtain patient charts (records) for appointments.
Answer routine questions on the services of the clinic and procedures for obtaining services and eligibility for care and eligibility for TRICARE.
Prepare medical records documentation in accordance with AFI 41-210, Patient Administrative Functions.
Shall verify patient identity and eligibility in Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting Systems (DEERS) using appropriate AF-approved methods.
Shall perform patient check-in function and enter patient information into AHLTA.
Shall assist patient to complete required visit paperwork and provides clinic instructions to patient.
Shall accomplish end-of-day processing to ensure all appointments are closed out properly.
Assists Office Manager, Squadron Group Administrator (SGA) and Group Practice Manager (GPM) as needed.
Perform other patient administrative functions consistent with the Administrative Technician (4A0) skill set as appropriate to the clinic setting.
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office programs to include but not limited to PowerPoint, Excel, Word and knowledge of various microcomputer equipment with the ability to input, retrieve and format data.
Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, to clearly and successfully deliver, receive, and understand messages.
Must possess the ability to research operational activities requiring coordination with multiple functional organizations within the Air Force as well as other civilian and federal agencies.
Have at least 1 year experience in a patient care setting or related position within the last 3 years.
