GDIT is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in support of TSS.  This role includes supporting Windows and UNIX environments, both on premises and in the Cloud. Additional duties include maintaining an organizations computer systems workflows, as well as the upkeep, configuration, patching, and reliable operation of computer systems, to include fixing network issues, updating equipment and software; creation and administration of profiles and accounts; and creation and maintenance of systems documentation; as well as troubleshooting enterprise systems both on premises and in cloud environments.

The Systems Administrator Senior will be responsible for provisioning and de-provisioning of resources across all on premises and cloud hosting environments, to include but not limited to, administration, configuration, and management support, backup and recovery for the Windows and Linux environments.  They will identify, evaluate, and recommend best of breed solutions to solve the business and customer problems.

  • Independently provides advance level technical interpretation and solutions in the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.
  • Troubleshoots system hardware and software specific issues that are moderate to high complexity in scope.
  • Performs advance software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.
  • Independently ensures data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Conducts advance hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.
  • Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. May provide guidance to less-experienced personnel.
  • Evaluates existing systems and assists with planning long-term strategies.
  • May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
  • Work across teams, and external customer groups to develop strategy, design solutions, and advise implementation teams during deployment.
  • Build and maintain technical relationships with managers of the organization and technology providers by leading and facilitating cloud technology discussions and aligning solutions with client needs.
  • Provide communication, ensuring that managers, team members, stakeholders within the organization, and clients are kept informed of relevant trends and projects.
  • Research new or alternative technologies, document findings, conduct pilots and evaluate multiple vendors, make recommendations, and develop business cases to justify the investment.
  • Deal with escalations. Make assessments, recommendations or provide solutions to resolve issues.
  • Mentor and train staff, ensuring they are up to speed on critical processes and technologies related to the organizations’ goals and soft skills needed to succeed.
  • Develop timelines for projects.
  • Contribute to budgeting for and understand the financial impact of cloud technology decisions.
  • Write functional requirements/specifications documents.
  • Guide the selection, implementation, and deployment processes for new cloud technology rollouts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 2+ years of experience (Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related area is preferred)
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Experience with Linux/Red Hat OS or Windows Server OS 2012 and above

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Cloud Computing, active cloud certification in AWS, Google or Azure (AWS Preferred)
  • Cloud migration experience
  • Advanced degree.
