In your role as the Software Developer, you will work within agile teams to support the development of customer-centric applications that support Veterans and their families in receiving benefits and services. You will assist with the performance of complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software ranging from operating system architecture integration and software design to selection of computer systems, language, and/or equipment. Your activities will include helping to design, code, and test systems using test driven development techniques and improving overall performance of any application or module under examination.
In the Software Developer role you will have the opportunity to gain experience in multiple areas and work closely with a high functioning, motivated team. You will be required to be a quick learner who can readily adapt to new technologies and rapidly changing requirements.
As the Software Developer, you will:
Assist with the design and development of solutions consistent with enterprise architecture reference standards.
Work closely with the technical team and leadership to actively identify and log technical issues or risks associated with a project, escalating them, as appropriate, and possibly support the implementation of mitigation strategies for risk prevention and timely resolution.

Bachelors or equivalent and 2+ years experience
Must have Java development experience with demonstrated skills in Patterns, framework, and n-tier service-layer platforms.
Understanding of DevOps best practices, processes and tools.
Knowledge of Cloud technologies and developing software using Java and relational databases
AWS or Azure experience
Enthusiasm for learning and results oriented in a team environment.
Experience with diagnosing exception stack-traces and examining application log files as well as oracle table data.
Experience working with business partners of varying levels to understand, expand, and gather system requirements.
Knowledge of Grails to incorporate new technologies into the application platform.
Solid verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively even when not interacting face-to-face.
Analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities.
Problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.
Interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude.
Ability to be flexible to handle multiple priorities.
Veteran status highly desired.
Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
