GDIT supports the United States Coast Guard (USCG) TISCOM - TESS program which provides critical services and support to meet the demands of the USCG mission. TISCOM – TESS responsibilities include providing reliable enterprise IT services and responsive technical support for Coast Guard men and women around the globe as it develops, deploys, and supports the information technology (IT) infrastructure for the USCG networks for land, aviation, and sea based assets. Requirements include O&M of existing systems to engineering/deployment of new capabilities.

Currently, we are seeking a Security Systems Administrator (Linux administrator) in Alexandria, VA. The selected candidate must hold a government security clearance, per contract requirements (Clearance Level: Secret).

Responsibilities

As junior Linux systems administrator you will handle tasks associated with monitoring and maintaining computer system infrastructure for the customer.
Your job duties include testing operational changes before software deploys, troubleshooting any technical issues that arise, and creating fixes to address problems.
Your responsibilities also include the installation of hardware and software, application updates, and server maintenance.

  • Must have a general understanding of Security Information & Event Management technology
  • Perform as a Linux systems administrator handling tasks associated with monitoring and maintaining computer system infrastructure for the customer
  • Associated duties include testing operational changes before software deploys, troubleshooting any technical issues that arise, and creating fixes to address problems
  • Responsibilities may include the installation of hardware and software, application updates, and server maintenance.
  • Must be able to evaluate Operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX, etc), applications (Web servers, databases, etc), network device (firewalls, routers, etc) and security devices/software (HIPS, HBSS, etc)  events within security systems environment
  • Must be able to evaluate, analyze, alert, and report on correlated security events
  • Must be able to identify system anomalies based on security tool administrator/product guide
  • Must be able to setup, run, and remove alarms and reports based on security tools administrator/product guide
  • Must be able to query for specific events based on security tools administrator/product guide
  • Must be able to apply policy to data sources based on security tools administrator/product guide
  • Must be able to build/edit dashboard views based on security tools administrator/product guide
  • Must be able to monitor/evaluate local and remote log storage available based on security tools administrator/product guide
  • Must be able to perform minor security tools appliance software upgrades based on security tools administrator/product guide
  • Must be able to setup and configure security tools appliances based on security tools administrator/installation guide

    Required:

  • BS; 4 years or equivalent related experience
  • COMPTIA Security + and a Senior-Level Vendor Certification appropriate to the position
  • Active Secret clearance
  • 3+ years Administration with security devices/software
  • 3+ years System administration of operating systems
  • 3+ years Experience with analyzing logs to identify root cause of security related events
  • 3+ years Linux OS experience
  • Windows System Administration 2008 / 2012/2016

Desired:

  • Familiarity with Remedy ticketing system
  • Familiarity with SharePoint
  • HBSS experience
  • ACAS experience
  • SIEM experience

Other qualifications include:

  • Detail-oriented and able to organize information
  • Strong customer service and oral/written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and produce results, given general priorities, required.
