MCM and PC Class Platform Engineer with DDG Experience

Subject matter expert for assigned ship class lifecycle maintenance (MCM/PC experience required, additional DDG experience requested). Routinely coordinate with Port Engineers, Technical Warrant Holders, In-Service Engineering Agents, Ship Design Managers and Regional Maintenance Centers in all matters concerning maintenance and modernization.  Expert knowledge for HM&E, Combat and Weapons Systems.  Conduct review of CSMP, CMP and other data sources to create an Engineered Work Package for a CNO availability that integrates all facets of maintenance and modernization.

- Validate existing CMP content through engineering and data analysis. Update CMP requirements’ man-day and material cost estimates from a review and analysis of actual return costs. Assist in the development of CMP tasks for Program and Fleet Modernization requirements with associated configuration data for assigned ship class.

- Coordinate CMP Processing activities, including the development, maintenance and monitoring of Baseline Availability Work Packages (BAWPs) / Availability Work Packages (AWPs). Validate the CMP content through review of requirements in JFMM, NSTM, Ship Specifications, tech manuals, instructions and drawings.

- Develop, collate and brief maintenance and modernization documents and strategies to all working levels of the maintenance team, to include SES and Flag-level.

- Develop and deliver engineered ship-specific Shipsheets in support of Planning, Programming, Budget and Execution (PPBE). Conduct detailed reviews of ship CSMP entries to identify requirements, cost elements and impact to availabilities regarding duration and budget.

- Review and accomplish engineering analysis of existing data for life cycle maintenance strategy improvements from sources including but not limited to: NMD, NDE, 3M OARS, VSB and the Maintenance and Shipwork Planning databases (M&SWP).

- Assist in the development and delivery of Technical Foundation Papers for assigned ship class that describe ship lifecycle maintenance requirements that ensure each ship reaches its Expected Service Life (ESL).

- Document processes and work instructions as required. Perform scheduled analyses of E2E processes and required products to include BAWP development, integration of maintenance, modernization for H&ME, Combat Systems and Weapons Systems.

- Assist SURFMEPP Activity and SEA 21 personnel with answering Congressional, OSD, Force Management and Budget (FMB), and other agency questions-for-the-record, data calls, reports, and other similar inquiries.

- Support the development of metrics for processes and products, and ensure alignment with Future Readiness Team / SWE requirements. Use these metrics to provide recommendations for improvements in the CMP and other SURFMEPP Activity processes and products.

- Maintain the accuracy, content, integrity of and accessibility to the Class Maintenance Plan and the Maintenance and Shipwork Planning database for surface ships.

- Support a robust engineering process within SURFMEPP reviews of proposed changes (additions, deletions, modifications) to Fleet Modernization Program (FMP) requirements.

- Assist with the adjudication of Technical Feedback Report (TFBR) pertaining to CMP requirements with the authorized engineering agent and Ship Design Manager.

- Assist in the adjudication of CMP notifications regarding deferrals and technical requests for non-accomplishment.

- High school degree, or a GED, and more than fifteen (15) years of relevant experience, OR

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and ten (10) years of relevant experience, OR

- Master's degree in a relevant field and five (5) years of relevant experience.

5 + years of relevant experience should include qualification as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) on the platform for which applying or civilian experience equivalency.


Extensive experience with depot level maintenance to include Advanced Planning, Planning and Execution phases of CNO availabilities.


Superior communication skills, written and verbal. Must be able to brief Senior Level Officer and SES on maintenance, modernization and budget aspects.


Extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite (EXCEL, Adobe Pro, PowerPoint, Word, etc).
