U.S. Citizenship and background investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background.  (Though the position is 8-5 M-F, the role requires flexibility to support issues or planned activities after hours, weekends and holidays as needed.) Successful candidate must possess and be able to demonstrate technical skills and engineering attitude for success, dedication and commitment.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation [FDIC] mission is to preserve and promote public confidence in the U.S. financial systems by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for up to $250,000; by identifying, monitoring, and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds; and by limiting the effect on the account and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. GDIT provides the day-to-day operational services to FDIC in support of infrastructure, facilities, hardware, software, and systems. GDIT supports operational security, client support/help desk, data center operations, asset management, and systems engineering service areas. The FDIC Engineering team provides support to a plethora of cutting-edge technologies across the IT spectra. It has a state of the art development lab to test new functionality, architectures, and equipment. Engineers are tasked with developing and deploying innovative solutions to meet business requirements - not managing day to day, same technology operations.

The Senior Video Network Engineer will be hands-on while working on the next-generation live video streaming, video-teleconferencing, and unified communications applications. Working with cutting-edge technologies, collaborating with back-end engineers, and prototyping proof of concepts, that will solve complex UI challenges in innovative ways. The candidate will provide architecture and automation enhancement, and best practices regarding next-generation live video streaming application, video teleconference, and unified communications including integration into Microsoft & Cisco collaboration products.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct decision analysis to provide customer with best industry solution recommendations for unified communications and video solutions.
  • Responsible for video system (multicasting, VTC) design/integration support, as well as, conducting complex installations. Responsible for providing technical support and/or leadership in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to meet customers’ business needs.
  • Provide oversight, management, operational and maintenance actions required to provide support for Tier IV (vendor and manufacturer) actions until faults are resolved.
  • Experience supporting mission critical, 24x7 systems; available for tier 3 and new deployments.
  • Understanding of how to build applications backed by a REST-full API.
  • Solid understanding of both object oriented and functional programming paradigms
  • Experience working in and understanding of Agile product development methodologies
  • Collaborate with other IT staff, including networking, security, and data center operation teams, to facilitate effective issue resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with MediaPlatform in an enterprise environment, where MediaPlatform is a leading enterprise YouTube enabling large-scale live streaming and on-demand video for executive messaging and e-learning.
  • Experience with VBrick – an enterprise video platform, providing intelligently distributed live webcasting and on demand video in a video CMS portal.
  • Experience with Cisco VideoTeleconferencing Systems/ Telepresence Management Suite
  • Must have excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills

Educational Experience:

1) BS degree & 10 years (8 years specialized) OR

2) Master's & 8 years (6 years specialized) OR

3) No degree & 13 years (11 years specialized)
