General Dynamics Information Technology is currently looking for an experienced Senior SAS Developer to join our team in support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) Office of the Director (OD) Office of Informatics (OI) supports the informatics needs of NCIRD.
This is a technical role, focused on defining and implementing solutions in SQL Server. Need to have current expertise in the development of ETL process (Extract, Transform and Load) processes implemented with SAS and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is required to fill this role. The Senior Developer will often work on systems with limited supervision so excellent problem-solving skills are necessary.
This position is fully remote!
The Senior Developer should have demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and implementing extensive extract, transform, and load processes. The role requires an individual skilled and current experience with SAS (Base SAS) Microsoft SQL Server 2012-2016, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). Should be able to architect and develop/support ETL processes using SSIS/SAS and implement processes using ETL specifications or other requirements documents. The role also requires analyzing, enhancing, and modifying existing ETL processes.
Responsibilities also include:
Development of SAS and database procedures to help resolve data quality issues
Experience in base SAS, SAS Macro, ETL using SAS.
Effectively communicate SQL Server SSIS architecture and approaches
Exhibit competency in problem solving, data analysis, business rule validation, data integration, data quality, dependency analysis and estimation and delivery of complex SQL Server, SAS solutions
Working closely with client stakeholders, architects, analysts and SMEs to validate and/or elicit information requirements for database design and architecture.
Analysis of source data to assist in preparing iterative design changes, database refactoring, and creating or modifying reference data.
Evaluating of existing databases for performance bottlenecks to recommend solutions for improvement
Lead and implement improved solutions
Required skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years’ experience (or equivalent years of experience and education)
5+ years in Base SAS and SAS Macros
4+ years of current experience with development and implementation of Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), T-SQL
5+ years of IT experience with strong database development experience using SAS & SQL Server
Design, develop, and implement applications using Base & Advanced SAS (Macros) to support business requirements
Experience with debugging and troubleshooting SSIS processes in production environments
Current experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases
Experience with optimization of SQL statements
Extensive experience with implementing procedures, functions, and complex ETL processes using SAS and SQL Server
Desired skills and experience:
Knowledge of Unix/Linux commands on SAS Grid environment
Experience with developing reports in Power BI or tableau is a plus
Experience in Phyton programming is a plus
Exposure with Azure Data Lake is preferred
Experience in the public health domain and HL7 is a plus
Understanding of data warehousing principles and concepts, including methodologies such as Kimball and Inmon
Experience working in an Agile development team
Must be able to work as part of a team, as well as independently
Must grasp new concepts easily and be willing to continually learn
Must be flexible and willing to help other team members in support of project goals
Excellent listening and interpersonal skills

The likely salary range for this position is $88,000 - $132,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
