Principle Duties and Responsibilities: - Operations and Maintenance of Communications Systems - Installs communications systems in accordance with the respective installation spec - Troubleshooting and support - End-user support and training - Administers network security - Backs up file server data/disks - Provides complex server maintenance - May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technicians - Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned - Participates in special projects as required - Focused on identifying customer needs and maintaining customer satisfaction - Perform assigned additional duties (Vehicle Monitor, Local Records Maintenance, Site Safety representative, etc.) if/when selected. - Assists Project/Task Supervisor (Field Office Manager) with: • Scheduling • Timecard approval • Alternate DISA Node Site Coordinator • Inventory accountability • Equipment Assignment reconciliation • Training site personnel • Performance of Quality Assurance validation and reconciliation • When required provide direct supervision of personnel/field office during the absence of the manager
Education, Experience, and Clearance Requirements: - DOD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (must have, no exception) - Active/Current - U.S. Govt Secret Clearance (must have, no exception) - BA/BS in a related discipline, equivalent certification or 5 years experience in telecommunications/computer/network maintenance - Minimum 5+ years of directly related experience
- Functional knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls and related network hardware and software - Functional knowledge of the principles and techniques used in network operations - Functional knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications - Functional knowledge of cyber security
The work is typically performed in an office environment and at the client site location in Rome, New York. Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment. The primary workspace is a 24/7/365 network maintenance center. This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Communications Workers of America Local 1126 through June 2, 2022.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Hours
Travel Required: 10-25%
