Primary Responsibilities of the Database Administrator:

  • Responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and administering databases, including security, access, and documentation.

  • Also responsible the installation, configuration, administration and management of Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Reporting Services.

  • Monitor and optimize the performance of the production SQL databases.

  • Provide support to development team throughout the Software Development lifecycle (SDLC). Implement and troubleshoot triggers, views, stored procedures and data integrity constraints.

  • Ability to implement, maintain and troubleshoot SQL Server HA and database monitoring.

  • Identify and troubleshoot database issues and the ability to analyze, design, build, test and implement solutions.

  • Perform scheduled and nonscheduled database backups and recovery with Microsoft SQL Server SSMS, or SQL CMD. Strong understanding of database schema object management, data modeling and architecture.

  • Expert understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) and Transact-SQL (T-SQL).

  • Experience with SQL clustered environments.

  • Exposure to Resource Governor, Tuning Advisor, SQL Profiler and Windows Reliability and Performance Monitor.

  • Experience with applying DISA SQL STIGs.

  • Experience with virtual environments (VMware/Hyper-V).

  • Solid understanding of Windows AD, DNS and Group Policy.

  • Shift Work: Not expected on regular basis however may occasionally be required to provide after-hours support

  • Travel: Less than 10%

Required Certifications:

  • 8570 Compliance (IAT II):

  • MS SQL Certified

  • MCSE -- Preferred

  • Experience with MS Power BI and ability to extract data from MS Excel Workbooks and query SQL server databases - Preferred

Required Experience/Knowledge

  • Top Secret or TS/SCI Clearance

  • Two years of experience SQL Server 2016 in the High Availability Groups (HA)

  • Two years of experience with SQL Server 2016 Failover Cluster Instances (FCI)

  • Experience building SQL Server 2016 HA and FCI Instances remotely

  • Experience maintaining SQL Server 2016 databases that support SharePoint

  • Experience maintaining and installing database that support third party applications like SolarWinds, System Center (SC) Configuration Manager, and MS SC Operations Manager

  • Experience with network storage solutions

Education Requirements:

  • Higher Education Degree in Information Technology, or related field; or commensurate level of experience based on position level (Associate, Journeyman, Senior, etc….)

  • BA/BS and 10+ years of experience required
