Designs, develops, deploys, and maintains operating systems and operating system software
Installs enhancements and performs updates to software of existing systems, including middleware and application programs that run on the system
Performs troubleshooting of problems and provides customer support for software systems and application issues
Debugs problems with system software. Provides recommendations for continuous improvement
Performs maintenance tasks to keep systems running smoothly
Writes and updates test procedures and programs
May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
May serve as a team or task lead
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, from an ABET accredited program.
EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years of professional experience in software development in engineering and/or control using C++; Two (2) years of professional experience in software development using Microsoft .NET Framework; Two (2) years of professional experience using Microsoft Visual Studio to develop, compile, and debug source code in C++/CLI, Managed C++, or C#. One (1) year of professional experience as a technical and/or programming lead for a software project through the software life cycle, from requirements to design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance; One (1) year of professional experience designing and/or analyzing software architectures; One (1) year of professional experience writing, reviewing, and maintaining new or existing software requirements, technical documentation such as user manuals, product specifications, and training materials. One (1) year of professional experience troubleshooting VME and/or PLC based systems for the U.S. Navy. Experience on LCS ships desired.
Required: CSSLP or ECSP or Bachelor Degree from accredited University
Windows or Linux OS Certification
Possess or ability to obtain Secret Clearance
