Job Description

GDIT has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to support U.S. Army Europe as a member of our EMITS program team in Grafenwoehr Germany.

The Systems Engineer manages and monitors all installed Information Technology Systems and infrastructure, as well as installs, configures, tests and performs routine maintenance on operating systems, application software and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. Performs administrative operation and maintenance functions of server hardware and software. Maintains system security and executes common practices and procedures. Maintains baseline configurations and performs modification of configuration settings. Troubleshoots system related problems. Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications. Recommends future direction or projects to management. Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system. Develop and maintain documentation on new and existing systems.

Duties and Responsibilities·        

  • Experience with Virtualization, Windows, Storage, Linux, and McAfee

  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, SCCM, and Active Directory 

  • Assist and support the development, configuration, testing, and evaluation of Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) solutions used to secure government customers' classified data and networks.

  • Develops and implements requirements for ongoing Network Infrastructure support for ongoing and quick reactions planning for customer needs.

  • Analyzes complex information and independently takes appropriate actions to resolve problems

  • Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans

  • Develops technical documentation, system architecture, and system design documentation

  • Evaluates, develops, and delivers technical input to the systems engineering process

  • Validates the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility

  • Designs and delivers solutions


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other business-related field plus 5+ years of experience in a related discipline
  • Must have or be able to obtain TS/SCI Clearance
  • Must have valid DoD 8570 IAT II certification
  • Must be eligible for German TESA
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Strong understanding of systems architectures, system design, employment of systems and dependent sub-systems, systems administration, and system networking
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problems
  • Background in requirements analysis, design, and coding methodologies, DoD software policies, and DoD test and evaluation requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a small team
  • Thoroughly understands systems engineering for client-server based architectures supporting broad base of applications
