Individual will be responsible for leading a large complex system of systems Development, Engineering & Integration effort comprised of multiple Integrated Product Teams to deliver Cloud-based services outcomes. The Chief SoS Engineer is further accountable for overall system performance against requirements, adhering to or developing System Engineering process documentation, coordination of System Engineering activities with Engineering Teams, and overseeing technical solution delivery to meet implementation and fielding requirements.

Typical duties include:

  • Being responsible for coordinating all System Engineering aspects of the project to meet technical, schedule and design to cost goals
    • Directing teams on Development, Engineering, integration & testing activities as project moves towards IOC and FOC milestones.
    • Work with project managers to review resource allocation to ensure proper KSA are supporting project outcomes
    • Reviews deliverables to ensure milestone briefings are effective
  • Developing stakeholder requirements from scratch and able to manage requirements from a top-down or bottoms-up approach.
  • Effectiveness in system engineering management through MBSE, requirements management, impact assessments, change notices, trade studies, architectural analysis, design reviews, entrance/exit criteria, risk and opportunity management
  • Providing Systems Engineering expertise in support of the Joint Education and Training System (JETS).
  • Serve as Chief SoS Engineer for the Development teams in the development, integration, and testing of advanced leading-edge Cloud services capabilities.
  • Interfacing directly with the Customer, stakeholders, and end-users regarding capability architectures, requirements, use cases, and stories to derive, develop and decompose next-cycle updates and specifications.
  • Conducting trade studies to determine improvements to system capabilities and system delivery processes (, architecture, automated deployments, training).
  • Identify risks and provide guidance regarding remediation of gaps to facilitate a hardened and sustainable solutions
  • Take ownership of solutions, assignments, actions items and issues, and remain accountable for their completion

Experience Requirements: 

  • 10+ years of experience, 3 years of which must be as a Lead Systems Engineer
  • Previous experience with SysML is required
  • Previous experience using MBSE on large scale programs is required
  • Familiarity with Intelligence Community and/or DoD acquisition lifecycles, software development methodologies, information security engineering concepts, cloud computing methodologies and/or SOA-enabling technologies Process Modeling, Data Modeling
  • Experience decomposing requirements, developing use cases and stories, interface definition, and systems integration & test.
  • Experience with and technical understanding of cybersecurity and cybersecurity architectures.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) processes and practices, Change Management practices, requirements management, traceability, and associated tools.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with architectural views including operational, technical standards, and system/services views and business, data, applications, and technology architectures using applicable standards (e.g., DODAF, FEAF)

Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline

Certification Requirements: 

  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification required
  • Active INCOSE certification is highly desired
