The USAFE ABAD Software Engineers are the top aerial defense software subject matter experts on the USAFE ABAD program. The Software Engineers are responsible for designing, integrating, and implementing highly complex ABAD software to support the USAFE AFAFRICA command. ABAD Software Engineers conduct software analysis, including design and testing. Implement software changes and install upgrades. Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve technical problems and system anomalies. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
Identify software problems
Provides technical consultation and coordinates projects regarding system design and implementation
Develops tests and implements computer programs and subsystems
Provides hardware/software support and communications design
Resolves problems between interfacing systems
Performs database/software application enhancements such as the process of analysis, design, implementation (coding) and test of a new requirement into customer portals and Internet, Electronic Personnel System (ePS), Master Events Management System (MEMS) and Web MEMS
Investigates, diagnoses, and corrects errors in the software undiscovered during the testing phase of software development
Must have familiarity with a majority of the following disciplines: MS BackOffice programming (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Exchange, and SQL Database Server); MS SQL; MS Access database management; HTML programming; Java Script programming, Web design concepts, Visual Basic, MS Internet Information Server programming, Cold Fusion Programming, Oracle, Fusebox 3.0 (a standard framework and methodology for building web-based applications), and C and C++ Programming and other relevant software development tools.
Requirements Level I:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information management or related discipline plus 3 years recent specialized experience; or Associates Degree in computer science, engineering, information management or related discipline plus 7 years recent specialized experience, or Major IT Certification plus 7 years recent specialized experience, or 11 years recent specialized experience. Must have demonstrated practical experience in the area(s) of expertise required in the Task Order, Performance Work Statement.
Level II = Level I with 3 additional years’ experience
Level III = Level I with 5 additional years’ experience
