As a Systems Engineer - Infrastructure Engineer supporting the customer, you will be trusted to act as the message addressing and support coordinator shall be customer focused, working independently supporting the different departments coordinating Organizational messaging activities and functions. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Participate in cross divisional on projects and system integration across other divisions.
  • Lead technical discussions and solutions across the Infrastructure Branch.
  • Experience with Cloud Services, Integration of AWS, Networking, Storage and Visualization is a must.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, System Engineering or related field and 15 years of professional experience which should include either management consulting experience or relevant industry knowledge
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with all of the following infrastructure principles:
    • Fault tolerance
    • High availability
    • Scalability
    • Service level agreements (SLAs)
    • Capacity planning
    • Data center organization
    • Backup / Recovery
  • Work with developers/engineers across disciplines to implement customer and system requirements; support a solution that meets the current requirements and is scalable to meet future mission needs.
  • Researches emerging technologies to determine impact on application/system integration and execution
  • Demonstrated experience across all of the following disciplines:
  • Operating systems - Engineering and/or enterprise configuration of Microsoft, UNIX, and/or Linux systems. Must have heavy Linux experience.
  • Networking - Understanding of TCP/IP, basic routing, security zones, controlled interfaces, installation and/or configuration of routers/switches, and experience designing multi-tier networks
  • Application Integration - Experience in the design and integration of multiple COTS products
  • Storage - Understanding of basic storage principles and including types of storage, RAID types, network storage types, and the best practices of when to use each type
  • Virtualization / Cloud - Experience in developing / implementing virtualization systems and the automatic provisioning of components
  • Draft project briefings, conceptual whitepapers, program planning, and other foundation documents
  • Understanding of all phases of the software development lifecycle; the System Engineering Life Cycle; and the ability to comprehend user business needs and concerns and integrate that understanding with technical skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Java and middleware environments
  • Ability to grasp new concepts, technologies and products quickly
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with all of the following infrastructure principles:
    • Active Directory
    • Encryption
    • IDS/IPS
    • Firewalls
    • Anti-Virus
    • VPNs
    • SSL
  • Ability to resolve complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations
  • Ability to work within system engineering standards and guidelines
  • Ability to facilitate technical and non-technical discussions among people with differing backgrounds and opinions and lead to consensus

Provides guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers.

Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes.

May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.

May serve as a task or project leader. (Not a people manager)

Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, model formulation, computer architecture analysis and design, and digital systems engineering.

Invents innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency.

Drives scalability and operability of supported systems/infrastructure.

Implements, manages and enhances Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline tools.

Creates, maintains, and reviews Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Desired State Configuration (DSC) and/or Puppet configuration management tools to support the provisioning infrastructure.

Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

Recognized as a subject matter expert in a specific technology.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 15+ years of experience
