Financial Specialist

GDIT has partnered with NASA to consolidate select Procurement, Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology activities from the ten NASA Centers into a single shared services center located at Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi.  

The NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) mission is to provide timely, accurate, high quality, cost-effective, and customer focused support for selected NASA business and technical services.  

GDIT has an opportunity at the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) for a Financial Analyst to contribute to our success with budget and accounting support of the National Center for Critical Information Processing and Storage (NCCIPS).  This will be a full time position.

The Financial Analyst will support the NCCIPS Business Services with all aspects of financial data analysis and reporting. This includes:

• Applies advanced knowledge with providing financial support, contract assessment, budgetary forecasting, research analysis, trending analysis, business case analysis, procurement support, and vendor and product assessment
• Analysis, assessment, and process development related to supporting contract transitions, improving business processes, procurement support, and general business operations of the program
• Primary roles may include:
  • Financial Analyst supporting multi-CLIN contract, encompassing multiple funding sources in a shared services environment, independently assessing the financial requirements against the technical requests for financial support and make decision regarding validity of charge, ensuring management is informed of matters of significance, recommending and executing solutions to issues that may arise; must be willing and able to provide feedback to requestors explaining invalid submissions and communicate solutions for resubmission
  • Invoice processing supporting assigned contracts, validating approved obligations against billing
  • Analyze and make decision regarding close-out requirements for assigned contracts
  • Tracking and reconciling Advanced Funding Distributions for program
  • Tracking and reconciling customer revenue or liquidations for program
  • Monitoring and maintaining a balance of funds by customer for specific services, and evaluating individual requests against fund balances to make decision regarding appropriate action

Educational and Years of Experience Requirements:

• Mid-level knowledge and experience in financial management and accounting practices and principles
• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years’ experience or 6 years of related experience
• Skilled in using NASA Financial systems: SAP, BOBJ, etc.
• Ability to interpret FAR and other government procurement policy’s

Other Qualifications:

• Expertise in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for communicating with internal and external personnel of all levels
• Strong organizational skills to balance work and prioritize tasks
• Strong skills in utilizing presentation and database software and preparing presentations
• Ability to keep sensitive and confidential material private
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, applying program policy and regulations, and providing feedback and recommendations to management as required
• Performs other support duties as assigned
