Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

The candidate will support a federal agency’s Microenterprise Development (MED) program. The program promotes economic integration via access to capital, credit building, and the provision of the training and technical assistance needed for individuals who aspire to start, expand, and/or sustain a small business in the United States.


  • Draft and Publish Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)

  • Provide technical assistance and conduct outreach

  • Provide guidance to grantees regarding strategies for improving project performance and/or overcoming identified obstacles

  • Conduct grant processing and management activities

  • Conduct reporting and analysis: Analyze grantees' program and financial reports and data relative to program objectives

  • Enter relevant data (reports, actions, communications) into grants management system

  • Prepare reports and recommendations and present them to senior leadership

  • Monitor program performance and assist in the design/modification of monitoring protocols

  • Oversee and manage site visits with agencies, associations, and other entities funded by the federal government

  • Provide support on a range of analytical tasks to support federal decision making

  • Analyze user needs and perform research and analysis on a variety of projects

  • Develop presentations and present them in various formal and informal settings

This position is based in Washington, DC and requires domestic travel 6-8 times a year. Travel will be reimbursed per federal travel regulations. 

Job Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree required; MS/MBA preferred

  • 5-8 years of related professional experience

  • Direct working knowledge of the US microenterprise field to include stakeholders, processes, and best practices

  • Experience working with refugee, immigrant, or other underserved communities

  • Excellent collaboration skills; able to work synergistically with other team members 

  • Experience in project/program monitoring

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • The ability to travel domestically six to eight times per year

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Teams, and Excel

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
