Our work depends on a Network Administrator joining our team to support FBI activities at Quantico, VA.

At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As a Network Administrator supporting the Operational Technology Division, you will be trusted to work on complex IP network tools and technologies in a production environment and monitor, manage and administer internet protocol (IP) networks.  In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Collaborating with the Operational Technology Division to evaluate moderately complex networks to identify and reconcile all obstacles to the network’s optimum performance. 
  • Primary responsibilities
  • Conduct site surveys alone, or as a team member and employ knowledge gained to configure and/or recommend the configuration of networks
  • Research and evaluate network technologies and COTS in the course of assessing the currency of networks
  • Employ the research and evaluation results to produce actionable recommendations for changes that networks remain current with leading industry standards
  • Design and plan moderately complex network systems and recommend resources required to maintain planned service levels
  • Demonstrate proficiency with communicating network architectures through the production of clear network diagrams
  • Direct the execution of projects of limited complexity
  • Plan and conduct relevant feasibility studies and produce initial drafts of related technical standards
  • Resolve moderately complex network problems
  • Establish and meet established work-product deliverable deadlines
  • Support the unit with other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Four (4) years of experience in monitoring, managing, and administering internet protocol (IP) networks in a production environment or, in lieu of education, eight (8) years of experience
  • Relevant industry certification, such as COMPTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), etc.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Configuring and managing products from various manufacturers, including Watchguard, Netgear, Arista and other major vendors
  • Maintaining Networking Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices and policies
  • Using automated methods to deploy and maintain switches and firewalls
  • Maintaining firewall appliances and firewall rules
  • Planning, Implementing, and supporting changes to networks, including cable infrastructure, network monitoring software, firmware and hardware
  • Evaluating and testing network equipment
  • Maintaining network systems and equipment
  • Installing and servicing terminals, cables, network components

CLEARANCES:

  • Top Secret Clearance
  • Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Access​

PREFEREED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintaining Network devices QoS policies
  • Providing detailed documentation and procedures for all solutions
  • Analyzing network and network equipment performance
  • Integrating Network device and SMB protocols with Software Defined Storage technologies such as but not limited to RDMA
  • Experience with Cloud technologies and interconnecting existing systems into the cloud
  • Monitoring network and other communication equipment
  • Providing training to peers and users
  • Developing, implementing, and testing changes to communication networks
  • Resolving interoperability problems within and between networks
  • Analyzing traffic information and providing analysis to justify network optimization and reconfiguration
  • Providing technical assistance, training, and system documentation for users
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Taclane devices
