Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is looking for a Senior Network Engineer for the Joint Multinational Simulation Center - Indo-Pacific (JMSC-IP) at our Ft Wainwright site.

HOW SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

The Sr. Network Engineer shall act as the overall communications network engineer and architect for the MTC Training Enclaves, LAN, and WAN

  • Design and implement new network solutions and/ or improve the efficiency of current networks. In coordination responsibility with outside agencies and MTC branches

  • Design network architectures, creates network diagrams, establishes new circuits, maintains and supports established circuits through DISA

  • Perform a variety of operational, analytical, planning and related tasks with duties concentrated in installing, configuring, maintaining and securing the network and associated devices

  • Configure, document, test, troubleshoot, create, and/or modifies network documentation related to the internal simulations network, to include Cisco firewalls, routers and switches for training exercises. Able to troubleshoot TCP/IP, multicast and UDP network traffic flows as well as tunneling encryption devices

  • Responsible for applying system updates and quarterly patches/IAVAs, SRG/STIGS, configuring access control lists, analyzes, tests, and/or modifies network devices, and software programs, in order to provide pertinent solutions to system users, based on and related to user or system design specifications

  • Responsible for planning, development, and execution of encrypted network connections to outside entities in support of constructive simulation exercises. Provide timely reaction, troubleshooting and resolution to any network related issues that arise

  • Monitor network performance and perform scheduled backups and recovery testing as necessary

  • Participate in After Action Reviews and maintain documentation for best practices

  • Must be able to work with other members of the team and willing to cross train on like systems. Also must be able to work with other employees for the accurate portrayal of organizational and operational activities during all simulation exercises

  • Reviews and updates network requirements for accuracy, and compliance with applicable doctrine

  • Participates in special projects as required

  • Have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and to perform shift work when required

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Certifications REQUIRED: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), as well as a DoD 8570.O1M IAT Level III certification

  • 5-8+ years of directly related experience supporting information systems operations and training. Primary systems, Cisco Networking Devices. 8 years training experience preferred.

  • Additional Requirements include lifting, bending, and climbing as required to support military exercises and training

  • Occasional travel in support of the JMSC-IP contract.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
