Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering; changes. Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. This position may provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.


BA/BS,  5+ years' experience or formal advanced military electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program.  Formal electronics training, to include: Satellite Communications, Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors


Eight (10) years of practical experience, to include: Shipboard Electronics Repair, Maintenance, Installation and Checkout. Two (4) years of experience, to include: supervision, and shop practices. Three (6) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair and installation, and six (8) years of experience with US Navy Satellite Communication Systems to include AN/WSC-9 NMT, AN/WSC-6, GBS and ADNS.  Note: Experience may be concurrent.

Shipboard Experience

    -Deploying Group Systems Integration Testing (DGSIT)

    -System Operational Testing (SOT)

    -System Operational Verification Test (SOVT)

    -Hardware Troubleshooting

    -Ability to interact with Ship's force, Contractors, or Gov Employees to complete tasks. (CANES, ADNS, DCGSN, GUNNS).
