High Frequency (HF) Telecommunications Subject Matter Expert
Performs variety of electronic and technical assignments on data communications equipment and systems under general supervision
Maintains continual operation of client-affiliated HF and other secure communications systems.
Troubleshoots issues using applicable diagnostic equipment
Plans, evaluates, designs, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of necessary hardware and software elements of HF and secure communication networks.
Possess the ability to apply secure communication systems knowledge and troubleshoot an enterprise architecture in an operational environment
Possess working knowledge of U.S. and worldwide frequency management and satellite resource allocation processes.
May propose solutions to client to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
Possess ability to procure, install, test, maintain, and repair a variety of telecommunication system equipment, cabling and other related peripherals with minimal supervision and guidance.
Ability to recommend and perform engineering assistance and system configurations for a variety of telecommunication platforms
Ability to define processes, principles and technologies in the definition, development and integration of advanced system concepts.
Ability to instruct new users of secure telecommunications equipment and services
Maintains technical expertise and awareness of evolving HF and secure communication technologies.
Prepares or ensures that appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions.
Develops and implements strategic plans and procedures to support emergency/contingency operations.
Provides regular monitoring and system analysis regarding for in-house systems.
May coordinate third-party maintenance for system equipment.
Evaluates options to enhance efficiency of systems through modifications and applications of evolutionary technology.
Will operate and sustain a variety of communication systems to ensure continuing operations for various government components.
Candidate will advise on a wide spectrum of emergency telecommunication systems to include requirements analysis, capability assessment, acquisition management, testing and evaluation, and operational implementation.
Ideal candidate will have vast experience with legacy national command and control telecommunication and data systems.
Candidate should be well-versed on current and future capabilities that may offer expedient and secure options to evolve legacy systems with the intent of improving overall mission assurance and viability.
Possess an active Top Secret SCI clearance with understanding that position is subject to a Counter-Intelligence polygraph as required by the client
Willingness and ability to travel (10-40%) within the Continental United States
Prior military experience in operations, strategic planning and/or telecommunications experience is a plus
Position is designated mission-essential and candidate must be available for periodic recalls and extended CONUS assignments.
Some work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing/walking over rough or uneven surfaces, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and recurring lifting of moderately heavy equipment.
May also be required to climb structures up to 50 feet high.
Candidate must possess a current TS/SCI and be willing to take a Counterintelligence polygraph if requested.
Bachelor’s Degree in related area or equivalent work experience
Minimum of ten years’ experience and detailed technical knowledge of secure communications systems, with no less than five years’ experience working with HF systems
