General Dynamics Federal Health Sector is actively seeking a Software Developer Senior Advisor to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Chronic Conditions Warehouse (CCW) Program. The CCW is a research database providing researchers with Medicare and Medicaid beneficiary, claims, and assessment data linked by beneficiary across the continuum of care.

This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating code relevant to the CCW program needs. This includes maintenance and monitoring of data within Snowflake and Databricks, data validation, security, and documentation.

This is a remote based role; applicants must reside in the United States.
 

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Performing data warehouse architecture development and management across one or more data warehouse solutions including Oracle, AWS RDS, and Snowflake.
  • Provide rotation-based production support for ETL batch loads including off-hours and weekends.
  • Developing schemas, testing for quality assurance, administering RDBMS, and monitoring of one or more relational databases including Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, Snowflake and SQL Server.
  • Analyzing and resolving complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.
  • Conducting investigations and tests of considerable complexity.
  • Maintaining data documentation on processes and procedures.
  • Tracking multiple data feeds, business rules, and statuses to ensure management receives accurate data and information.
  • Continually assess processes for improvements and efficiencies.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent, or a Bachelor’s in an unrelated field with at least 5+ years of software development experience. A relevant master’s degree is a plus.
  • 4+ years’ experience working with claims data and reporting.
  • Experience working with data elements, data modeling, user documentation, and data collection.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including issue resolution, and conflict management.
  • High proficiency with MS Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
  • Experience with telecommuting, working from a home office.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience and proficiency with Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Snowflake and Databricks a plus.
  • Experience with dimensional modeling techniques and their applications.
  • Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, JAVASCRIPT, PYTHON used in data processing and modeling tasks.
  • Ability to operate with general direction/minimal supervision.

The likely salary range for this position is $116,000 - $174,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
