GDIT is looking for a Enterprise Overall Cloud SME/Technical Lead to join our large IT infrastructure program in to NOAA. As the cloud architect, you will work with a team engineers to design and implement secure Cloud solutions (Azure/AWS). This role will define the overall Cloud Architecture and provide input into design and operational activities based on best practices and tailored to the clients’ needs and infrastructure. In this role, the candidate should have a strong understanding of application, server, network security, and government requirements such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and ATO process. The role will also provide the business level input necessary for the customer to maximize the benefit of the cloud environment.
All in all, you should bring a solid architecture background with experience conceptualizing and strategizing Cloud solutions.
Position is for full time employment and will be based at GDIT’s office in the Washington DC/NC area. Remote/Telework will be considered.
Participate in the product evaluation and selection process
Provide architecture expertise to the program team and government staff, and assist in development of products and deliverables to further the strategy and goals of a large government organization that is in transition to a Cloud hosting model
Provide management of research and evaluation of current market trends, best practices and preferred architectural approach to ensure the solution matches services/agency needs
Assists and supports client activities to eliminate gaps or inconsistencies in the initial solution, architectural design, deliverables, benefits and messaging
Assist existing support staff during the rollout, transition, & operational phases
Bachelors and 10+ years IT knowledge and demonstrated hands-on experience in server systems engineering and administration or network engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
5+ years’ experience managing in a matrix organization
Subject Matter Expert in Cloud Technologies, including professional experience architecting and operating solutions built on Azure or AWS
Understanding of Cloud technologies (VPC, RDS, IAM, Storage, ELB) and others
Experience with High-Availability, Fault Tolerance, Scalability, Database Concepts, System and Software
Understanding of application, server, and network security and government requirements such as FISMA/FedRAMP
Direct experience in an enterprise large-scale hosted computing environment
Experience with hybrid Cloud environments
Experience assessing, planning, designing, and migrating/transforming legacy applications to the Cloud
Working knowledge of software development tools, web services, and methodologies
Experience managing projects related to cloud establishment
Must possess strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated experience working with senior level stakeholders
Ability to convey complex technical concepts to less technical audiences is critical.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
Must be able to work in a matrix organization
Must be able to articulate cloud technologies and approaches to all levels of customer and contractor personnel
Continuous integration/continuous deployment environments are strongly preferred
Knowledge of DevOps technologies is preferred
Configuration management using systems such as Puppet (preferred), Ansible, Chef, or similar
Container systems (Kubernetes, Mesosphere, Docker)
Knowledge of development methodologies and more than one of the following languages: .NET, Java, PHP, Perl, Python, or Ruby.
