GDIT is seeking a technology-driven IT professional who will serve as Solutions Architect and Technical Advisor to our client, the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement.  As a Solutions Architect, you will provide technical leadership to promote and drive business and technical solutions. You will help clarify requirements and propose solutions that meet business milestones to hand off to technical teams for implementation.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Monitor the use of the technology supporting federal client systems to ensure they are making the best use of the existing or target technical architecture.
  • Review proposed designs and technical solutions for suitability.
  • Recommend technical improvements to systems within processing environments as business or processing requirements change.
  • Collect and organize governmental guidance and requirements relative to Enterprise Architecture (EA) and develop analysis and other products to assist federal management in determining activities and responses. Provide support to the client to maintain their enterprise architecture and lead coordination with stakeholders to ensure that all required EA work is completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; and investigating problem areas.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, and charts.
  • Research new technologies and develop white papers detailing their application in enhancing the technical or business infrastructure.
  • Assess software impacts across lines of business to ensure the software developed aligns with the long-term architecture vision.
  • Participate in change release planning discussions, scrum meetings, and key system workgroup meetings.

Required Skill Set:

  • Bachelor's degree and 20+ years experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (such as a Masters and 18+ years experience or no degree and 24_ years experience).
  • Substantive IT knowledge and hands-on expertise in areas of software technologies
  • Experience leading technical teams including defining architectural roadmap to meet business goals and end-to-end solutions
  • Solid industry experience in end-to-end cloud based solution design and development of Microservices, service-oriented architecture (SOA) and object-oriented programming (OOP).
  • Deep knowledge in Java Technologies, Linux operating systems
  • Experience in systems, hardware, and network design and development.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Postgres databases
  • Working knowledge of networking, firewalls, load balancers etc.
  • Solid understanding of configuration management tools such as Subversion, Maven, SonarQube
  • Experience in CI/CD pipeline to deploy applications
  • Experience with large-scale, high availability server architectures
  • Strong, articulate communication skills, including ability to convey the right level of technical detail for multiple audiences (executives, IT staff, policy staff, program support staff, etc.)
  • Experience with automation technologies
  • Track record of promoting and adapting new technologies, decision making and exceeding expectations
  • Must be able to develop a “big picture” view driven from technical details, and be able to identify “ripple effects” from organization technical decisions.
