With an internationally dispersed team supporting each combatant command, the US BICES-X team is in direct support of the war fighter and their missions. We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team. 

The Systems Engineer Advisor is a strong, self-motivated, solution-oriented individual who will be joining an experienced team to support the implementation and sustainment of multiple networks. We are looking for an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic systems engineer to join us in delivering high quality IT systems.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

- Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

- Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.

Acquisition & Deployment

- Designs and defines systems architecture for new or existing information systems in accordance with vendor best practices, DISA STIGs, and NIST guidance.

- Performs complex network development and design work.

- Participates in the deployments and upgrading of operating systems and services and design of network enhancements in both hybrid Windows/Linux and exclusively Linux environments.

- Provides documents systems on new or existing networks.

- Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

Operational Management

- Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems.

- Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

- Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

- May provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.

- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

- Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.

- Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.

- Participates in special projects as assigned.

- This position may require limited travel to CONUS and OCONUS (Non-Hazardous Duty) locations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

- 8+ years of technical experience required.

- BA/BS required - may substitute additional years of experience

- A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in Red Hat Linux system administration, including installing and maintaining operating systems, configuring and installing hardware/software utilizing monitoring technologies, troubleshooting, and sustaining the operational health of the infrastructure.

- Ability to troubleshoot and analyze Linux systems and networks efficiently

- Working knowledge of Puppet and ability to create new Puppet manifests

- Proficient with Linux scripting languages (e.g BASH, Python)

- Knowledge of VMWare systems management

- Knowledge of Red Hat Directory Server management

- Networking knowledge (network layers, TCP/IP, Firewalls, IPsec)

- Understanding of Agile, ITIL, DevOps practices.

- Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

- Must be IAT level II compliant with DoD 8570.1.

- DoD Computing Environment Certificate/OS Certificate in Linux

- ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire.

- May be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

- Experience with Ansible Automation Platform

- Knowledge and experience with NSA’s Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) program and solutions.
